Reiki is an ancient art of healing used over thousands of years throughout many cultures and ancient civilisations. It was rediscovered by a Japanese Monk, Dr Mikao Usui during the last century, after many years of dedicated research.

Reiki means "Universal Life Force Energy" and refers to the Ki (Chi) ~ the Energy that flows through all living things.

Reiki is channelled through the practitioner's hands to promote healing and provides a safe and natural means for healing mind, body and spirit. Reiki Energy is all-knowing and flows to wherever it is most needed, addressing the underlying cause as well as the physical symptoms of dis-ease. It also works as a very effective complement to other medical treatments and can be used on animals and plants.

Reiki Energy produces a feeling of peace and relaxation and can relieve conditions such as stress, insomnia, depression and anxiety. It can also reduce and in some cases eliminate pain and can help speed up the healing of cuts, sprains and other injuries. Reiki has been known to alleviate altogether some chronic complaints and serious illnesses.

Reiki is not massage; the practitioner's hands are placed gently on the body and remain still. The treatment is carried out with the patient fully clothed and lying down. Each session lasts about an hour.

This is an ideal complementary therapy for the medical profession and those working as therapists and carers. Everyone has the ability to learn this ancient hands-on healing technique.
