Aromatherapy is
respected and widely practised as
one of the most popular
complementary therapies. A
typical treatment consists of an
hour-long massage using essential
oils and can bring about a
dramatic improvement in
well-being and general health.
Stress, muscular aches and pains,
skin disorders, coughs, colds,
migraines, menstrual problems,
depression, indigestion,
constipation and insomnia are
just some of the conditions that
can be helped by
Aromatherapy.
|
|
Of course, you do not need
any of these complaints to enjoy
an invigorating or relaxing Aromatherapy
session!
Jan offers Aromatherapy at
her private treatment room by
appointment.

Hypnotherapy
can be incredibly
effective for anyone wishing to give up
smoking, lose weight, gain confidence, or
overcome a phobia. Addressing the
subconscious directly, it can enable the
client to change habitual behaviour very
quickly and effortlessly. Hypnotherapy can
also induce positive effects on health and
wellbeing, conquering anxiety and reducing
stress.

Reiki
is a healing art,
founded nearly 100 years ago by a
Japanese Monk, Dr Mikao Usui,
after many years of dedicated
research. Reiki is "channelled"
through the practitioner's hands
to promote healing and provides a
safe, natural means of treating
mind, body and spirit. Reiki
energy flows to wherever it is
most needed, addressing the
underlying causes as well as the
symptoms of dis-ease. It also
works as a very effective
complement to other medical
treatments.
|
|
|
Reiki produces a feeling
of peace and relaxation and can relieve
conditions such as stress, insomnia,
depression and anxiety. It can also reduce
and in some cases eliminate pain and can
speed up the healing of cuts, sprains and
other injuries. Reiki has been known to
alleviate altogether some chronic
complaints and serious illnesses.
Reiki is not massage. The
practitioner's hands are placed gently on
the body and remain still at numerous
positions. The treatment is carried out
with the patient fully clothed and lying
down. Each treatment lasts about ninety
minutes.

Reflexology is
based on the theory that every
part of the body is represented
on an area of the foot and can be
accessed through precise pressure
points. When these points, or
reflexes, are stimulated, they
trigger energy flow to related
muscles, glands and organs of the
body. This surge of energy
encourages the body to heal
itself.
Reflexology is a
natural, drugless therapy which
works on all systems of the
body.
|
|
Reflexology relieves
stress and tension by relaxing the body.
It improves circulation and aids the
elimination of toxins.
Almost all conditions,
such as Backache, Sciatica, Fluid
Retention, Infections, Diverticulitis,
Constipation, Stress, Insomnia, Cystitis,
Sinusitis, Asthma, Bronchitis, PMT,
Menopause and Prostrate Problems will
benefit from Reflexology Treatments, but
please discuss beforehand if you suffer
from Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, are
pregnant, or have suffered a
Thrombosis.
It
is recommended to have three weekly
treatments initially, to see how your body
responds. At your first session we will
talk about your family, diet, lifestyle,
current medication and take a full medical
history.

CranioSacral
Therapy is
a gentle, non-invasive
manipulative technique. Seldom is
a pressure in excess of five
grams applied. Examination is
done by testing for movement in
various parts of the system.
The name
CranioSacral is derived from the
system's associated bones.
Included are those of the skull,
face and mouth - which make up
the cranium - and the spinal
column, which extends down to the
sacrum. Cerebro-Spinal fluid is
essential to the health and
proper function of the central
nervous system.

How does CranioSacral
Therapy help you?
Each
of us produces our own different reactions
to trauma, stress and loss of healing
capacity, so we each present own unique
combination of ailments, pains and
dysfunction. Because CranioSacral Therapy
helps clear the way for our self-healing
mechanisms to be more effective, its scope
is very wide indeed.
CranioSacral Therapy may
help chronic pain, reduced mobility
("stiff joints"), low energy, headaches
and migraines, jaw problems, neuralgia,
learning difficulties such as dyslexia and
dyscalclia, menstrual and menopausal
problems and clumsiness. In newborns,
infants and children, colic,
hyperactivity, feeding and sleeping
problems are often helped. Routine
evaluation of newborns often reveals and
permits the easy release of strains and
restrictions that may, if left, lead to
chronic dysfunction in later life. This
applies not only where birth has been
difficult, but also with 'normal'
deliveries.
At
your first appointment, which includes
detailed medical and life history, you
will be asked about any accidents, falls,
dental work etc.
Jan Attkins has completed
CranioSacral Therapy 1 & 2,
Paediatrics, Somato Emotional Release 1
& 2 and Visceral Manipulation 1 with
the Upledger Institute UK.
